Recycling of nutrients in wood ash is currently made difficult by the Danish bio ash notice (2004). The aims of this project is to develop and compile a well-documented concept for recirculation of wood ash to the forests and at the same time take part in the breakdown of the current barriers for application of wood ash in the forests.
Results
Burning of wood chips produces ash that contains app. 75% of the P, Ca, Mg and Mn that were in the bio fuel. It is desirable that the nutrients are recycled to the forest. Experiments have been performed with hardening of the ash. The effect of ash application on soil and soil water are examined by field trials.
