Project description

As an initial step for FLOAT – a project on using UHPC for wave energy floaters - a study has been undertaken to investigate preliminary design of 2 types of floaters, essential properties of UHPFRC – and identification of necessary developments, compilation of existing data from off shore applications and analysis of effect on Cost Of Energy.

Results

Designs of floaters for WEC’s have been investigated in the current project emphasizing replacement of other materials with CRC. It was shown that for Dexa Wave normal concrete is fine, while for Wave Star replacing fibre glass with CRC will mean a 77% price reduction for the floaters.
