The project aims to develop objective methods to allocate reserve and utilize the intra day market in order to reduce the risk of system imbalance during periods of high uncertainty of the weather forecast. The methodology will be based on a multi-scheme ensemble prediction system for the combined Danish and German wind generation.

Results

DEWEPS outcome are the combined effects of an extended weather Ensemble based Forecasting System, an incremental trading tool incl. Web-service technology and access to detailed probabilistic forecasts via a new web platform. Together they provide a significant reduction of required reserves, more capacity in the market and increased competition."
