Advanced modeling of oxy-fuel combustion of natural gas
The project is to investigate oxy-combustion of natural gas via advanced modeling. The main contents are: (1) to develop new models for gaseous radiative properties applicable to oxy-fuel combustion; (2) to correctly model mixing, chemistry and heat transfer in oxy-fuel flames; (3) to identify the important intermediate species in oxyfuel flames.
ALL the main objectives described in the granted proposal have been well achieved. The main project results include [1] the final project report, [2] some new in-house codes for new models, [3] several new user-defined functions (UDFs) implemented into CFD, and [4] four journal articles in level-2 journals. Two articles have been published; one has been submitted and is to be published. The last one is under planning: the very time-consuming large-eddy simulation, with non-gray application of Yin et al. (2010) WSGGM and new global combustion mechanism refined for oxy-fuel combustion, is still in running. This is my extra work on this topic.
