Stiffening of Wind Turbine Blades – Mitigating leading edge damages

To develop and demonstrate cost effective solutions for mitigating leading edge damages on blades on both existing and future wind turbines, based on Bladena’s patented technologies for mitigating shear distortion. The solutions will be demonstrated on a turbine in operation, full-scale test, sub-structure test and in a pilot project.

Project description

The objective of this project is to develop three commercial solutions (Retrofit, New Design Stiffener and Retrofit Damper) and the project plan has been organized in “3 swim lanes”, one for each solution. The process has been designed as shown below for each swim lane: A: Understanding, B: Hypothesis, C: Verification, D: Product development and E: Demonstration. All swim lanes and work packages will be tied together by a series of facilitated work-outs with continuously updated visualization of all findings, issues and conclusions.
