Bio fuelled Hybrid Vehicle for airport ground handling operations
The objective is to develop a hybrid power pack for ground utility vehicles at the Copenhagen Airports, which both improves fuel efficiency and reduces the emission for ultra-fine particles at the same time. The power pack consists of a fuel cell and a battery and it operates on bio fuel. The power pack represents a cost effective solution.
The proposed project aims at demonstrating an electric Toilet Service Unit using bio-based natural gas as fuel for airport operations. The energy for the TSU will be based on a hybrid system combining batteries and fuel cells running on reformed natural gas (and later reformed biogas). The advantage of this concept is that the size of the individual components can be reduced (as compared to a non-hybrid system), while improving the overall energy efficiency by using the most efficient hybridization for a given power requirement. The project is divided into a number of work packages (WP´s) and milestones in order to ensure progress towards the objectives.
