ELECTRA top up financing (EERA Smart Grid Integrated research project)

The project extends DTU contribution in the FP7-project 'ELECTRARES´ connected at all voltage levels requires new approaches for control coordinating millions of devices. The project establishes proofs of concept that holistically utilise flexibility across boundaries. lt demonstrates key results using PowerLabDK and links to the Danish sector

Project description
The objective of the project is to strengthen the Danish impact on and dividend of the FP7/IRP project ELECTRA and through the use of the PowerLabDK infrastructure to participate in the development and demonstration of future grid control technologies developed as part of the ELECTRA project. ELECTRA is a project initiated by EERA Joint programme on Smart Grids, EERA JP SG. A further objective is to increase the presence of Danish expertise and facilities in international fora, in particular in the context of IEA lSGAN/SIRFN context in order to attract oversea activities. The EUDP project wilI concentrate on three main activities: participation in the research of new advanced ways of controlling the grid in the presence of renewable energy and activation of distributed energy resources proof-of-concept demonstration using the PowerlabDK infrastructure extend the links between Danish and European smart grid research by linking to ELECTRA/EERA JP SG by hosting workshops and at the international level by participation in lSGAN/SlRFN activities. ELECTRA IRP will research new control solutions for the real time operation of the 2035 power system. ELECTRA's joint research activity and collaborative support actions build on an established track record of collaboration and engagement. The deployment of RES at all voltage levels will require radically new approaches for real time control that can coordinate the operation of millions of devices, of various technologies, at many different scales and voltage levels, dispersed across EU grid. ELECTRA addresses this challenge, establishing proofs of concept that utilise flexibility from across traditional boundaries in a holistic fashion.
