Demand-Response Capacity Management in Commercial Buildings
The project”s objective is to demonstrate how smart grid technology will enable Operators of commercial buildings to provide flexibility services to existing flexibility markets and to local Distribution System Operators.
Project description
The project will demonstrate the ability for office buildings to provide demand-response management services to the existing markets for flexibility and to local Distribution System Operators (DSO). In the project, DSO services specified in the ongoing iPower project are implemented applying the OpenADR protocol. The services are demonstrated using a new 4.000m2 office building with 200 tenants and a 15 years old 3.000 m2 office building with 80 tenants. The demonstration includes both technical tests of delivery of flexibility services and a study of the impact on the tenants comfort level in the office buildings during delivery. The demonstrated load services provided by the office building, is input for a simulation and analysis of the value of such
load management services in the existing power grid operated by the local DSO.
