Analyses of Hourly electricity demand AHEAD

Over time, both the total and the hourly profile of electricity consumption will change. Based on data from hourly metering of consumption by individual customers we analyse what effects the hourly profile will change. Changes in profiles are important for the required production and grid capacities and the need for flexibility.

Project description

Based on data form hourly metering of the electricity consumption by individual customers linked to socioeconomic, demographic, technological and sector data from Statistics Denmark, we analyse the profile. From these analyses quantitative models from long-term projections of the aggregate hourly consumption profile at the notional-, regional-, and geographical areas constitute a valuable input to planning production-, transmission-, and distribution capacities. Finally, we analyse the need for flexibility and what extent policies and tools engaging potential demand flexibilities may contribute integrate renewable technologies and reduce requirements for transmission and distribution capacities.
