Future Ammonia Refrigeration systems, Evaporator loop (FARSevap)
The project will develop system solutions that reduce energy consumption in industrial refrigeration and freezing equipment. The systems can be used on existing and new industrial evaporators for ammonia, which through active control will minimize or eliminate the considerable extra energy losses that exist in the designs used today. The results will be demonstrated through testing of a full-scale prototype of the future high-efficiency evaporator principle with a very low refrigerant charge.
Ammonia has excellent thermodynamic properties and is used worldwide in most industrial refrigerating and freezing installations. Denmark is a world leader in this field. Powered by new rules - in particular in the USA - a trend towards the use of significantly less refrigerant charges has started. The overall objective of the project is also to ensure that the Danish industry can offer new solutions to this new global trend.
At the end of the project, the partners will have fully developed products in the form of control systems, separation systems and valve systems for state-of-the-art evaporators and full scale proof-of-concept for future high-efficiency evaporator technologies with very low charges.Key figures
