Business Intelligence for resource reduction and energy auditing in protected cultivation
itGrows 2.0 addresses the need for a dedicated energy management system in advanced greenhouse production. The aim is to increase the energy and resource efficiency already achieved in recent years. The project output will help nurseries in their daily use of the energy system and the use of its individual components. The new system will combine the existing system InfoGrow and simulation tool Virtual Greenhouse in an integrated model-based decision support system. In addition to constructing the energy management system, the main project activities will be improving, developing and implementing models for greenhouse energy use, micro-climate and plant transpiration in close collaboration between the project partners. Humidity control is the factor within greenhouse climate control where most energy can be saved. The activities and focus within this project will therefore be the correlation between humidity control and energy consumption, as well as the effect of humidity on plant transpiration and health. itGrows 2.0 is expected to contribute to retaining and increasing employment in the greenhouse industry, as well as developing a new Danish innovative energy tool for the export market.
