Return temperature optimization of radiators in multifamily houses in city area with low temperature district heating
The aim of the project is to demonstrate that a new prototype of thermostats from Danfoss, special designed to accommodate a low return temperature from the radiators without comprising the thermal comfort in buildings and create of roadmap on how to implement low temperature district heating in large city areas. The thermostats are to be installed on each radiator in a given apartment building in Frederiksberg, characterized as a dense city area.
The increase in efficiency by lowering return temperature is estimated to have a very large potential, not only in district energy systems, but also in systems with gas boilers, heat pumps etc.
The results, which will be obtained through the demonstration and analyses/ considerations for different types of buildings, will form the basis to highlight the potential to implement return temperature control all over the municipality of Frederiksberg. Furthermore, a technical evaluation of other types of building and an overall strategic financial implementation plan will be conducted and the most optimal solutions will be presented, making it easier for future district heating companies to convert into low temperature district heating in large city areas.
Furthermore, an evaluate the international market potential for implementing return temperature control on an international scale and how the technology can ensure a huge export potential to other countries.Key figures
