SCAVOP
The main scope of the SCAVOP project is to reduce the need for maintenance associated with build-up of spent and unspent H2S scavenger in the hydrocarbon production and refinery facilities. By optimizing the H2S scavenger injection it is estimated that oil and gas operators can reduce the amount of H2S scavengers significantly and thereby reduce the environmental impact from oil and gas production significantly.
The scope will be reached by raising the level of understanding of the physico-chemical aspects and reaction kinetics of H2S scavenger injection and reaction with H2S, increased understanding of where spent and unspent H2S scavenger precipitates as scale and the causes behind this.
The results from the project will be a simulation model for H2S absorption which will be used to define a series of industry practices and recommendations to be implemented across hydrocarbon production and processing facilities. This will allow for reduction of the amount of H2S scavenger needed and also reduce costs due to reduced amount of necessary maintenance.Key figures
