Participation in IEA Task 29: Full Scale Wind Turbine Aero -dynamics, -elasticity and -acoustics

The project comprises Danish participation in IEA task 29 which overall objective is to facilitate an international collaboration on validation and further development of wind turbine simulation models within aero-dynamics, -elasticity and -acoustics by comparison with experimental results from the DANAERO data base.
Project description
The project comprises the participation of DTU Wind Energy in the IEA Task 29 phase 4: Full Scale Wind Turbine Aero -dynamics, -elasticity and -acoustics. The overall objective of IEA task 29 is to facilitate an international collaboration on validation and further development of wind turbine simulation models within aero-dynamics, -elasticity and -acoustics by comparison with experimental results from the DANAERO data base. This data base comprises detailed measurements on an NM80, 2MW turbine in 2009 within the DANAERO project (Vestas, Siemens, LM, Dong Energy and DTU), funded by the Danish Ministry of Energy. DTU Wind Energy will contribute with simulations from different codes such as HAWC2, EllipSys3D and MIRAS, all developed in house and several of them used by industry in Denmark and worldwide. The validation of these codes will strengthen and support the Danish leadership on design and analysis of innovative, optimized, reliable, and cost-effective wind turbines.
