ZeroWastePreStudy

The purpose of the project is to;
 1. Develop, build and test a control system that may allow remote controlled operation and monitoring of prototypes as well as the later upscaled system.
2. Mapping national sludge resources and analyzing the optimal sludge for use for gasification.                                                          3. Analyzes of our gasification technology as well as applications in an international context and assessment of state of the art.
Project description

Part of the project is the identification of parameters that increase the value of the biochar and the identification of parameters that potential decreases the value of the biochar. An already functional laboratory prototype will in the project be upgraded with modern state-of-the-art system control, enabling predictive and repeatable process flow and stable end products in the form of biochar and gasifier gas.

A leading Danish university within chemistry and WWTP will characterize and validate the combined 3 stage prototype laboratory gasifier, enabling process prediction and fast optimization of the later up-scaled system.

An essential part of the project is the mapping of available sludge resources from the largest, Danish WWTPs and chemical analysis of the most suitable and available sludge for processing through the gasifier.

A leading Danish expert from EA Energy Analyze (EA) will assist Biowaste2Gas (B2G) and Aarhus University (AU) in understanding state-of-the-art with gasifier technology and its application.

The 2 WWTPs is Frederician Spildevand og Energi, as they are willing to become demonstration-site in a later full-scale project demonstration. The other WWTP is Aalborg Øst, as they possess one of 2 sludge drying systems in Denmark. They are willing to contribute with dried sludge and system knowledge on the drying process.
