EUDP 2021-II Driver Coach

The DRIVER COACH system is a driver management system. DRIVER COACH nudges the driver towards efficient driving styles and is the drivers ever present helper in achieving and maintaining optimal driving behaviour. The system gets to know each driver and adapts intelligently to continuously predict and resolve individual driving style inefficiencies.

The new product departs from the current state-of-the-art to exploit detailed infrastructure GIS systems and machine learning algorithms to predict upcoming efficiency opportunities, and to empower and motivate the driver to make the most of those opportunities through state-of-the-art nudging techniques supported by social knowledge platforms.

The DRIVER COACH system is expected to deliver further increase of energy efficiency above what is currently achieved in the passenger and light goods transport sectors.

The system further supports quicker and more effective best practice implementation for new drivers or drivers that switch from traditional vehicles to electric vehicles. Training for e-vehicles is an issue that is quickly moving to the forefront, and its much less trivial than it might seem, as drivers have to de-learn diesel driving and learn an entirely new driving style.
