NextGenBladeAccess
Purpose of project is to develop and demonstrate a cost-effective blade access system dedicated to the mega offshore wind turbines of the future.
We denote our concept as “Next Generation Blade Access for Next Generation Offshore Wind Turbines” – or more briefly NextGenBladeAccess.
Development of NextGenBladeAccess will be performed in a consortium that cover most downstream activities concerning maintenance and repair of blades offshore. PP Techniq A/S being the manufacturer of the system and the lead partner in this project. IWS Services A/S taking care of the logistics of the system from land to the offshore wind turbine. Muehlhan Windservice A/S doing the service and repair at the wind turbine and lastly RWE being owner of offshore wind turbines. The development of NextGenBladeAccess will in this project end up at TRL 8, a complete prototype tested in realistic conditions at one of RWE`s offshore windturbine parks, probably at Rodsand II. What justifies this project is that blades are getting longer at a fast pace, and there is not really any cost-effective solution at the market presently, that give access to next generation wind blades, in the next 3-8 years to come. At the same time installed capacity of offshore wind turbines will grow 10 fold within few years.
