ReHTPEM Recycling of reformed-methanol High Temperature PEM Fuel Cell components - boosting the green fuel value chain
The scope of the project is to recycle high value precious metal catalyst and polymer components from HT-PEMFC MEAs, implement inhouse MEA production using alternative components and test the robustness of the new recycled MEAs in realistic operating conditions under a joint force of renewable energy system provider, recycling clean-tech startup and universities. The project addresses both current and future issues of commercial HT-PEMFCs, and therefore facilitates the adaptation of PtX technologies, especially green methanol production due to the versatility of HT-PEMFCs for different applications and circular economy, which cover two of the important DK Innomissions. Furthermore, there are several industrial synergies within the scope of this project, as the PEM technology is fundamental enabler of a successful Hydrogen Economy and PtX facilities. Furthermore, recyclability of PEM components allows a scale-up of production, thereby reducing overall cost of several applications important to achieving the global climate strategies and objectives, while simultaneously enabling a circular economy. |
