Fully integrated solar collector for all roof products

The participants want to develop fully roof integrated solar collectors to fit all roof materials in shape and design. After development demonstration units should be made and tests to get approval should be carried out. The project will handle issues as selecting the right materials for upper part as well as the lower part of the collector, designing the units, controlling the efficiency of the solarcollector during internal tests and developing forms for test purpose. Further app 10 demonstration units should be built to monitor the efficiency in real life to secure that the solar collector is fully developed before launching it in large scale

Project description

Nordic Energy Group patent-pending a roofing material-adapted solar collector, which can be integrated in the roof surface, and thereby resolve the aesthetical and architectural looking problems. A bade building integration and bad design is often the reason why people do not choose solar collectors. The NEG solar collectors counts both problems, meanwhile they offers same and even better strength as other solar collectors. The purpose of the project is to develop the profile integrated roof solar collectors, to test them and getting them approved and then establish 10 demonstration plants, which shall work as a reference plant after the measuring period. The new thing about the roof profile integrated solar collector, is the transmission lager above the part that absorbs the sun follows the roof material, and also the solar collector has a patent-pending, forward placed piece so that the solar collector is a part of the roof coating. This means that there is no need to cover up the surrounding solar collectors as it is seen on traditional solar collectors. The absorption part in the new profile integrated solar collector is a known technology; therefore strips form Batec/Crome Coat is used. This means that many years optimizing of selective coating can be used in the roof integrated solar collector. The transmission can be cast in either plastic or glass. The technology is known from vent hoods, which is also relies on their profile. There is a big developmental challenge in commercializing technology, because there has to be made at shape for every roof in Europe, when the roof integrated solar collector is developed, demonstrated and tested in this project. In this project application only 10 different roof shapes are included, because this number seems to demonstrate the solar collectors in such good way, it is enough to marketing, test and show them to dealers and costumes as a reference plant. More shapes will be paid by Nordic Energy Group as regular product development after this project ends.

The project has shown: - That it is possible to make a roof integrated solar panel with the same throughput as a plane solar panel - That the energy passage of a plastic covering layer can be increased via special coating - That profiled solar panels can mean that more people will choose solar panels in connection with roof replacement - That the carpenter business has no problem with selling solar power - That design matters but the price range in relation to plain solar panels should be not too considerable
