Project description

HyTEC is a joint 226 million DKK European large scale demonstration project supported by Fuel Cells & Hydrogen Joint Undertaking programme (FCH-JU) with activities happening in both London (UK) and Copenhagen (DK) and with 16 partners from five countries. For denmark and Copenhagen a number of FCEV's (Fuel Cell Electric Vehicles) is to be procured from an international car manufacturer and used by the City of Copenhagen for daily transportation services. The main effort within HyTEC-DK is the demonstration of a network HRS's (Hydrogen Refuelling Stations) to be established in Copenhagen. All stations are to be based on onsite production based on renewable energy through purchase of CO2 certificates for the energy consumed. In total the HyTEC project will bring Copenhagen one of the densest metropolitan HRS networks in the world, making it a strong candidate city for market introduction of FCEC's by car manufacturers. These efforts together with a comprehensive HRS expansion study for Denmark is to ensure a decision on next commercialization steps for FCEV's and HRS's in Denmark. Specifically car manufacturers are to decide on commencing early market deployment in Denmark beyond 2015 and a decision on establishement of a nation-wide HRS network across Denmark is to be taken.

Results

HyTEC-DK has demonstrated a network of 3 hydrogen refueling stations in Copen-hagen along with 15 fuel cell electric vehicles (FCEV) from Hyundai. The stations are established in Copenhagen South, Gladsaxe/Herlev and Köge. A total of 4.507kg has been dispensed allocated on 1.362 fuelings and with an average station availability of more than 98%. The FCEVs have driven more than 300.000 km with an average availability of more than 99,5%. The project has catalysed the start of market intro-duction of hydrogen for transport in Denmark, with several additional stations and vehicle deployments throughout the country.
