EL+ New paradigm for innovative electricity savings in the low-energy buildings of the future

Project description

In this project a calculation tool EL-model is developed and it can calculate devices energy use and the energy savings as a supplement to Be06.

There data that are used is from selvtjek-bolig, ELMODEL-bolig and se-elforbrug. There will be developed new EL+ low energy classes that are based on the building total primarly energy consumption including electrical devices.

Results

Building energy consumption has undergone a major transformation since the 1970s. New buildings are better insulated, whilst the electricity consumption and internal heat gains from appliances has grown larger. It is now the electricity consumption which dominates new buildings’ primary energy, whilst domestic appliances are responsible for over 40% of the CO2 emissions from the existing housing stock.

The aim of this project has therefore been to develop a software tool for calculating the electricity consumption and savings potential from domestic appliances in housing, both new-build and energy refurbishment. The software is to be used early in the design process parallel with EPBD energy calculation software, so that clients and consultants can make holistic comparisons of different electricity and heat saving design strategies.

The completed software, ELplus, has a modern, minimalist design together with an easily understandable GUI-workflow, which presents the complex background data in a simple and useable way.
