Emissions and residues

The project concerned production of liquid potassium fertilizer from straw fly ash. A pilot plant was established at the straw-fired boiler at Ensted Power Station, and, in 2007, the project succeeded in achieving stable production. The project proved that a liquid product with 10 weight-percentage of potassium and an extremely low content of heavy metals can be developed. The product was delivered to farmers who mixed it with slurry. However, the process is not financially competitive compared with other technologies for treatment of fly ash, meaning that a commercial plant should not be established.
