Calculation of energy efficiency for cooling system and heat pumps in Be10
The project will contribute with a more correct calculation of the actual energy consumption for heat pumps and cooling systems in the simulation programme Be10 by designing and implement better methods for calculation of efficiency and energy consumption for cooling system and heat pumps, for easier decision making of the most energy efficient performance.

The calculation program Be10 has a model for calculation of heat pumps. In the current calculation method for heat pumps in Be10 is in a simple manner catered for heat pumps operating at partial load, which does not reflect heat pumps varying operating at the full range of outdoor temperatures over the year. The reason is that the calculation of Be10 today rely on one average temperature per. month.
Be10 calculation does not reflect adequately the low temperatures during winter where heat can be large and the efficiency of the heat pump is small, and where the use of backup heat will be needed to deliver the required amount of heat for home heating or hot water. The calculation also does not reflect the outside temperature at which the required heat is small, and the efficiency of the heat pump can be very different. The current Be10 heat pump calculation may therefore be subject to uncertainty in relation to a more detailed calculation.
