GreenSpeed Demonstration Platform

The objective of the project is to develop a demonstration platform intended to support the
commercialization of the product "GreenSpeed" for the global export market. The plan is to develop a
highly professional and user friendly demonstration platform for selected partners and customers so that
the energy saving potential of GreenSpeed can be demonstrated convincingly at the client directly.

The aim of this project has been to develop a transportable demonstration platform from the product ”GreenSpeed”, that is developed for DSB with the purpose of optimizing the train service. There has been developed a professional and user friendly demonstration platform for the use of partners and costumers abroad, so that saving potential of GreenSpeed can be verified directly to the costumer.
Project description

The technology of the GreenSpeed main product (which is deployed in DSB) focuses on an active use of GPS information and the collation of a number of operational databases to achieve high precision in the recommended speed for the train drivers. Application of the system results in significant energy savings, improved punctuality, reduced maintenance, improved working conditions for train crews, and increased customer satisfaction.

Project plan:

  • WP1 GreenSpeed portable: Development of portable device that can demonstrate the GreenSpeed system benefits without any connection to the train and its systems.
  • WP2 GreenSpeed training/driving simulator: Development of portable driving simulator for use by customers for demonstration and training purposes as well as at fairs and exhibitions.
  • WP3 GreenSpeed demonstration portal: Development of web-based demonstration portal, which simultaneously serves as the dissemination of GreenSpeed and as a user universe.
  • WP4 Commercialization of GreenSpeed: Plan for the overall commercialization of the GreenSpeed through the demonstration platform
Results

After the development of a driving simulator and the transportable test equipment, it has been developed demonstrations tests in England, Finland, Switzerland and Sweden. Furthermore an offer has been made on the GreenSpeed demonstration and test, from an operator in North Ireland, and also from an operator from Denmark.

The partners of the project have been successfully testing and demonstrating the GreenSpeed together with several English train operators throughout the project period. One of these operators – South West Trains – has invited Cubris to make an offer on the assignment concerning optimizing the train service.
