PV Island Bornholm Phase III

The main purpose of the planned Phase III (PVIB-III) is establishment of 1,5 – 2 MW of additional capacity primarily in terms of a large utility scale PV power plant of at least 1,5 MW. Thus very good conditions to support other ongoing R&D activities (e.g. EcoGrid EU) will be provided.
Project description
As a follow-up to the ongoing PV Island Bornholm project supported by the ForskVE programme, it is proposed to launch the planned Phase III (PVIB-III) targeting 1,5 – 2 MW of additional capacity primarily in terms of a large utility scale PV power plant of at least 1,5 MW. The PV power plant will be the focal point of simulations, data collection and analysis of the grid impact of a large scale PV plant under Danish conditions, and will be executed in close dialogue with the EU Eco Grid project. The PV power plant will be classified as a type B in the new ENTSO-E Network Code for Requirements for Grid Connection Applicable to All Generators . Furthermore this large scale PV power plant will be used as proving ground for a new family of large scale PV inverters from Danfoss Solar Inverters, and the grid impact of a very high penetration of inverters on one 10/0,4 transformer station will be investigated in collaboration with the ongoing ForskEl supported project: Application of Smart Grid in Photovoltaic Power Systems. Finally, a minor budget entry is allocated activities launched in phase 2, namely PV on municipal buildings.
