The New Roof

PV systems are in many cases spoiling architecture. Often it is not looking good. Especially some types of roofs are problematic and this will in many cases be spoiling architectural quality of buildings. As producer in this EUDP – BIPV application we have the company Komproment / Nordic Energy Group, which already have building integrated PV solutions to offer. Their business idea is to deliver complete roof solutions, and the existing BIPV solution they already have is adapted to the most common types of roofing materials together with possibilities to include solar thermal solutions. There is however a clear need to develop new BIPV designs which are more low cost based on prefabrication and which also includes qualities like a good aesthetic, choice of sustain-able materials with low energy content, which can be exchanged and reused . This will be handled in The New Roof together with a focus on future oriented demands like handling daylight access and ventilation and inclusion of neutral elements for non-solar producing areas, tightness, minimal demands for maintenance incl. easy exchange possibilities for built in elements, water handling and focus on colours and texture and possibility to obtain a “cradle to cradle” certification. In the project one of the leading design companies in Denmark Designit, is involved incl. a number of BIPV experts.
