ADDpower - Next Generation Power Supply
20 kW RMFC platform with increased feasibility for higher power requirements in Material handling and large machinery APU requires a cost effective, compact and efficient solution.
The goal of the projected is to build a 20 kW RMFC (Reformated Methanol Fuel Cell) platform that can be competitive in a higher power segment than the current 5 kW platform. The feasibility for higher power requirements in Material handling and large machinery APU (Auxiliary Power Unit) requires a cost effective, compact and efficient solution.
Modularization of current 5 kW platform stops at 2-3 modules in parallel as the component count and cycle/machine time increases dramatically.
The goals of the 20kW platform (per kW) are:
- Reduce Bipolar plate costs by 50%
- Reduce Reformer costs by more than 50%
- Reduce MEA assembly costs 50%
- Reduce stack Assembly time with 50%
- Reduce the BOP (Balance Of Plant) cost with 50%
Commercial & Demonstration Goals
- Demonstrate a prototype in a target application
- Demonstrate commercial feasibility
- Plan further commercial roll out.
The project goals are in line with National PEM strategy and HT PEM roadmap. The targets are compared to a modular concept with e.g. 4 pcs of 5 kW systems.
