Demonstration of the AD Booster system for enhanced biogas production
The objective of the project is to demonstrate an up to 50% increase in biogas production by use of the AD Booster system at commercial scale using various types of organic fibres, such as straw and other high fiber organics normally considered as none-suitable for biogas production.
The objective is to demonstrate the performance of the AD Booster system at commercial scale. The AD Booster system will enable new and existing biogas plants to increase biogas production from fibers. The project will validate the AD Booster system performance with a typical biogas process and will demonstrate the performance of the system with non-traditional feed materials such as straw and grass cuttings. The project will design, build, install, and operate the AD Booster system at Ribe Biogas. The system will be representative of an operational commercial facility; processing 2 tph wet digested solids. The test program will operate the system for 4 to 5 months to establish steady state operational conditions while process and operating data are collected to validate the system. After proving the system performance for a typical biogas plant, further testing will investigate the ability of the AD Booster system to provide commercially viable levels ofbiogas from lower-value, high-fiber feeds that normally are not suitable for AD. Successful completion ofthis project will facilitate the introduction of the AD Booster to the commercial market at new and existing biogas plants, especially in Europe where the production of renewable fuels is encouraged by regulation.
