IEA PVPS Task 15 Acceleration of BIPV

The purpose of Task 15 is to accelerate the use of building integrated photovoltaic (BIPV). By identifying aesthetic, economic, regulatory and technical issues new approaches can be developed so BIPV become competitive and at the same time contribute aesthetically to a building. A project database with successful BIPV projects will be established

Project description

The main purpose of'IEA PVPS Task 15'er to accelerate the deployment of building integrated photovoltaic (BIPV) through the identification and resolution of technical, aesthetic and financial issues. The goal is to increase the penetration of BIPV in the global market in renewable energy, making it competitive with BAPV products and other types of building envelopes. Task 15 contributes to the ambition to realize energy buildings and built environments, and will include both new and existing buildings, different PV technologies, different applications, as well as in scale range from 1-family homes to large BIPV installations, for example, office buildings. Task 15 is divided into six sub-tasks that reflect the different parts of BIPV development and application: A. BIPV project database: Case Study database with good examples . The aim is to help professionals in the building with developing successful BIPV projects and how they run the process throughout. The database show a number of selected cases analyzed in details. B. BIPV business models: Identification, benchmarking, development of sales arguments and business models for BIPV. C. International framework for BIPV specifications: Requirements, specifications and requirements. The aim is to build bridges between the international differences. D. Environmental assessment of BIPV: Environmental assessment of BIPV products comparable to the environmental assessment of building envelope components in general. E. Demonstration: Comparison of different technologies and applications internationally will contribute to the achievement of specific BIPV demonstration projects. Bridging the gap between prototyping and large scale. F. Communication: Dissemination of results to the various target groups (construction, customers, BIPV product developers, etc.) using the most appropriate forms of communication as a book, interactive web guide, youtube movies, MOOCS. The Danish participation in Task 15 will be able to build on experience gained through participation in 'IEA SHC Task 41 Solar energy and Arkitektur' around case studies and guidelines. Likewise, Task-participation will be a good opportunity to disseminate the results of the Danish BIPV-pool in an international context.
