Aesthetic PVCover for Roof Ventilation Units

The project will develop and design an aesthetic energy producing cover for roof ventilation units. The PVcover is constructed of modules so they fit most ventilation units and can be integrated as part of most building types. The electricity is produced of PV-cells placed on the cover and will cause a higher degree of sustainable ventilation.

Project description

The new product will be part of the product catalog of SolarVenti.

A combination of photovoltaic energy and ventilation is logical because of an increased demand for ventilation when the sun shines, which also is when the photovoltaic cells are producing the highest amount of electricity. The product replaces regular covers in lacquered/galvanized metal that are made to order.

In the project, a PV-cover module is designed and produced with automatic control and inverters that easily can be combined with the controls and power supply of the ventilation unit.

The project leads to the construction of a prototype of the energy producing cover. It is expected to be beneficial to construct PV-covers that can be used by different manufactures of ventilation units, but there could also be advantages in working alongside a specific manufacture.

It is examined whether the unit can benefit by including following functions: preheating of the supply air, night cooling and filter cleaning
