Liftra Offshore Self-Hoisting Crane
The objective of the project is to develop an offshore self-hoisting crane (OSHC) based on the principles of Liftra Self Hoisting Crane (LSHC). The OSHC must be operable from a floating platform (Regular ship) and must be able of exchanging turbine components on turbines placed on floating foundations.
The OSHC will lower the cost when installing and replacing components in offshore wind turbines. The idea is that the OSHC can replace the Jack-up ships used today, being ships resting on the seabed using jack-up legs. The OSHC is equal to the LSHC in the sense of having a winch system on the ground, in this case the ship deck, with the wires going from the winch through the hoist block mounted on the nacelle to the crane, and thereby having the wires both lifting the crane to the nacelle during installation and afterwards using the same wires for lift of turbine components to and from the ground.
