HyScale - Scaling hydrogen fueling to match gasoline
The HyScale project to develop and demonstrate a 3. Gen 70MPa Hydrogen Refueling Station (HRS) for fast fueling of long range for Fuel Cell Electric Vehicles (FCEV). The overall aim is to increase capacity and reduce cost to a level that enables hydrogen to be competitive with gasoline. This is to allow for a following market introduction beyond 2020 for Europe and USA to support widespread roll-out of hydrogen fueling.
HyScale is to achieve a doubling of fueling capacity to 400kg per day on the same fueling equipment footprint as todays 2. Gen. product, thus a 50% reduction in footprint. In addition cost is to be reduced with 50% which will enable hydrogen to be competitive with gasoline in Europe.
Energy efficiency is also to be improved with 10% through an optimized fueling control and cooling system. HyScale will also include various R&D activities on fueling control, dispenser, and station module.
The aim of HyScale is to achieve a successful demonstration of a HRS prototype validating reaching of TRL 7. This is to enable a following product maturation and market launch of the 3. Gen. HRS in EU and USA beyond 2020.Key figures
