Scalable Electronics for Plastic Solar Cells

The overall purpose of the project is to increase the market for plastic solar cells by ensuring entrance of larger panels and systems through scalable electronics.

The plastic solar cell exhibits an extreme degree of scalability and can in practice be cut in different sizes - depending on the power (in watts) you want.

The corresponding electronics with the same degree of scalability do not exist today. At infinityPV ApS we have developed small electronics for plastic solar cells with success and electronics for plastic solar cells have been demonstrated on a larger scale in a now completed PSO project.

We want to make the necessary industrial development of this electronics, so that full scalability is achieved (for both voltage and power). infinityPV ApS also wants to obtain the necessary approvals to the market for systems intended for network connection and systems with battery storage

Project description

Plastic solar cells are today manufactured and marketed in Denmark as a result of a significant public investment in research and development.

The plastic solar cell has several unique characteristics, which implies that the electronics that is necessary for conversion to grid electricity (with possible storage applications) does not exist on the market today.

With this project infinityPV ApS wishes to mature the electronics such that the technology becomes broadly applicable.

Panels with an arbitrary size are manufactured today on thermo plates and find application for carports, bike sheds, awnings, green houses, noise reduction shields alongside roads etc. and can easily address variable demands for light penetration and shading.

The project purpose is to achieve the same degree of scalability in the electronics that are necessary for efficient harvesting of the energy such that it can become integrated in the system.

The project seeks that the necessary approvals for the use of the electronics in the Danish system are obtained.
