Blue Atlas Robotics is developing an underwater robot that autonomously images large underwater structures, including ships and harbor quay walls, to radically improve the quantity, quality, and usefulness of underwater inspection data, while simultaneously reducing cost and inspection time through automation.

Project description

The end-goal of the project is to have a finalized version of our small sized, autonomously operating underwater inspection Robot with its unique image processing technology and tightly integrated large camera array that allows for software based automatic control and navigation of the Robot.

Under Ship Imaging: The visual control mechanism will maintain the robot at a constant distance from the object while it navigates either horizontally or vertically to image the sides, bottom, and other parts of the hull.  

Hydrodynamic Robot Chassis: This part of the project, will contain tasks and activities related to the large number of components of the robot and how they fit into the overall structural design of the robot.

Improved 3D Post-Processing Software:  Development of a software platform for generation of the 3D-model with embedded links within same to all recorded HD video and individual images.

Cloud Hosted Post-Processing and Data Delivery: Development of a cloud-based platform solution where large numbers of computers can be used in parallel to compute the result rapidly. Using this platform Big Data sets can be developed, which will produce energy optimizing learnings that can be applied across the global fleet.
