Results
The object of the project was to develop an experimental method for estimating the modal properties of wind turbines during operation. OMA (Operational Modal Analysis) proved suitable for documentation, reduction of tower and edge modes under different operating conditions, and may in the long run be incorporated into turbine operation for error detection. On completion of the project, OMA software and insight into systems with periodical coefficients in movement equations were insufficient for the OMA method to be applied in the rotating system. However, methods already exist that can handle such conditions.
