Project description

The main object of the project “Green Methanol Infrastructure” is to develop and demonstrate a new refueling technology that will support and stimulate 100 % renewable transportation sector based on methanol-driven vehicles. To begin with, the refueling stations will support methanol fuel cell-vehicle Qbeak from Ecomove.

The primary objective of the project is to develop and demonstrate a green methanol refueling infrastructure that enables methanol-driven vehicles to operate in a simple, safe and reliable way. The vehicles are being developed in other projects and planned demonstration activities, e.g. the Ecomove Qbeak with methanol-driven fuel cells.

The refueling concept will be based on technology used in the existing liquid fuel infrastructure, thereby saving large investments for developing new alternative refueling solutions.

The project consists of a series of work packages, which will be executed during the two-year project period in order to develop different methanol refueling solutions. These will be tested and demonstrated by different municipalities, whom are among the main target groups of the methanol-driven vehicles currently under development.

All results will be thoroughly communicated with regard to reaching the relevant future customer segments, ensuring political support and building confidence in the new refueling concepts and methanol-driven vehicles. Hence, the refueling concept as more methanol-powered vehicles is developed.
