ODIN-Wind-decommission of offshore wind turbines

The purpose of ODIN-WIND is to develop and demonstrate a management tool for the decommissioning of offshore wind turbines. The tool will enable stakeholders to reduce the risk, cost and time spent on decommissioning and at the same time minimizes the environmental impact by optimal waste management and reuse of components with remaining lifetime.

Project description

The project aims to establish a management system for the full decommissioning process for offshore wind turbine farms. The software will include a tool for estimation of the remaining lifetime of the wind turbine components in order to estimate the potential of reusing the different parts of the wind turbine on other locations or for other aims. The software will be created through seven work packages (WP): WP1: Administration WP2: Determination of the decommisioning software model WP3: Data administration and “Good practices” WP4: Approaches and Tools for estimating remaining lifetime of wind turbine components WP5: Strategies to Decommissioning process and ID of KPI´s WP6: Software programming and database update WP7: Demonstration of ODIN-Wind on Horns Rev 1 Each work package will result in a report on the performed work and finally the result will be presented to stakeholders through articles, conference s etc. ODIN-Wind includes a main decommissioning approach, where the process from planning to waste management is included: The ODIN-Wind software will aim to collect data from each project made, in order to keep the database updated with the latest prices and state-of-the-art technologies. It is the intention to create a management tool which guides the user through the offshore decommissioning process.
