Project description
The scope of this project is to develop a pressurized entrained flow gasification technology that can utilize low quality biomass as fuel in advanced and flexible energy production plants. This kind of technology is essential in order to have a technology where all types of carboneous matter can be utilized as fuels in order to reach the goal of transforming Denmark into a fossil free society by
2050.
The technology, that will be demonstrated, is based on several decades of commercial experience from entrained flow gasification of coal. In order to utilize the technology for biomass and waste new fuel preparation, pressurization and injection is necessary. The result of this project will be a 10 MWth gasification plant that can use different low quality biomass as fuel and demonstrate syngas production at a high efficiency.
The results of this project will be used to get an overview of the potential market for large scale gasiflcation technology for production liquid fuels and to identify the potential barriers in terms of getting real plants to operate.
The project is seen as an integrated part of the complete sum of activities at TK Energy to develop pressurized technology for thermochemical conversion of carboneous fuels.
