Global Atlas for Siting Parameters

Institut for Vindenergi
The GASP project aims at bringing down the Levelized Cost of Energy by reducing uncertainty and providing quality data for turbine siting parameters. This will ensure that the turbines’ structural integrity is suitable for the environmental conditions, reducing cost by avoiding over-classification of turbines. The output from GASP provides the required parameters for market schemes.
Project description
This project will provide the first global atlas of siting parameters and recommended wind turbine design classes. These data are missing but needed for energy planners to estimate cost and manufacturers to customize turbines for any region globally. Latest data and methodologies from DTU and EMD are used for this new concept and calculation setup, and the results will be implemented in their existing software and portals. The outcome of this project will help advancing wind energy globally, and benefit the Danish wind energy business specifically, via the new data and services, and hence help Denmark maintaining the leading role in global wind energy.
