International Smart Grid Technology Collaboration

Supporting a strong Danish contribution to MI securing solid Danish footprint in the future international energy policy. We will have the opportunity to influence how the future energy system will look as well conveying this information to Danish companies developing energy technology solutions. This will help them develop solutions that will match the needs of the international energy market.
Project description

Denmark has since 2015 participated in the Mission Innovation (MI) initiative, a global coalition aiming at accelerating the global transition towards a greener economy. MI consists of 24 members who include 23 countries and the European Union.

This project supports Danish participation in the Smart Grid Innovation Challenge also referred to as the IC#1 where Denmark is co-leading the task on Demand Response and participates in various other tasks. The purpose of the project is, through the strong Danish experience, to impact the international research on Smart Grids thereby influencing which technologies should be part of future sustainable energy systems.

The project will also bring results and experiences from the large number of international/national projects in other countries and provide an international context for the Danish industry.

As part of MI, the participating countries have committed to strengthening their cooperation to develop the future's sustainable energy technology and to double the public funding for research by 2020. By strengthening international cooperation the MI countries can achieve a much stronger utilization of the invested resources – not only financial but also in terms of knowledge and skills and hence accelerate the green transition.
