Exowave, Water, Electricity and PtX
The first purpose is to optimize and demonstrate Exowave wave energy concept in a coastal offshore environment, where the produced seawater under high pressure is led ashore and converted to fresh water using special membranes using only wave energy. The second is a study of energy production on a very large scale in the North Sea using combined offshore wind energy and wave energy.
The goals are i.a. to determine the optimal scalable configuration and unit cost (LCOE) in the production of resp. water for electrolysis and electricity and in this connection qualify, demonstrate and communicate synergies and the effects of combined production of wave and wind energy in relation to the achievement of the national CO2 reduction targets for 2030. The work program includes: Define design basis and calculation program, design and engineering of the wave energy converter and the desalination unit, offshore demonstration, data analysis, optimising the calculation tool, study large scale combined production of wind and wave energy. The results from the demonstration will be used to measure the actual production and subsequent calibrate calculation models as well as to project costs of mass production. As well as by studying energy production on a very large scale in the North Sea using combined offshore wind energy and wave energy, which includes energy potential, production costs, effects and visualization. The study includes offshore energy production of electricity for the grid as well as decentralized production of technical water and electricity for the production of hydrogen.
