DH Sensor Power

Energi og Klima, Installation og Kalibrering

The aim of the project is to establish an advanced, flexible and robust system for district heating (DH) grid measurements in DH pipe networks by installation in pits and other accessible locations. Together with traditional existing measurements and measurements from smart meters this completes the metrological basis for an energy effective DH operation.
The goal will be reached through exploitation and refinement of power harvesting modules and solar cells, further development of clamp on sensors (temperature, waterflow and pressure) as well as through cloud integration and implementation in DH operational systems, for example based on Termis® or other software tools.

Project description

This project aims to establish an advanced, flexible, and validated system for district heating (DH) IoT-grid measurements. The concept focuses on reduced costs and maintenance to facilitate a wide distribution of future grid measurement points with significant green effects as a result coming from optimized operation in DH distribution. The solution will be validated in the Danish reference laboratories for temperature and flow as well as by developed online sensor network surveillance tools.

Today, real-time measurements of temperature, flow and pressure is limited to few locations in the DH network. However, there is a strong need among DH companies for a viable commercial solution to support existing measurements and smart meter data in the transition towards new data-driven operation opportunities.

The goal will be reached through exploitation and refinement of power harvesting modules and solar cells for independency of electricity supply. Development of clamp-on sensors for DH pipes will ensure easy and flexible non-invasive installation opportunities, and the total solution will include an innovative data transmission network and cloud integration.

The complete solution will be commercialized, demonstrated by DH companies, and presented to the market targeted DH companies in Denmark as well as abroad.
